Itinerary

Your private Egyptologist will be waiting for you at your hotel reception in Cairo to greet you. After meeting your guide, you will embark on a journey to Minya, located approximately 245 kilometers south of Cairo. The drive will take about 3.5 to 4 hours, offering a scenic view of the Egyptian countryside.

Upon arrival in Minya, you will check into your hotel and have some time to relax and settle in before starting your historical exploration.

Beni Hassan Necropolis

Your first stop will be the Beni Hassan Necropolis, a remarkable site that dates back to the Middle Kingdom. It is renowned for its rock-cut tombs of nomarchs (provincial governors) from the 11th Dynasty. Your Egyptologist will guide you through this fascinating burial site, explaining the tombs' architectural features and their significance in Egyptian history.

Temple of Istabl Antar

Following lunch, you will continue your journey to the historic site of Tell El-Amarna, located approximately 25 km south of Beni Hassan, along the right bank of the Nile. This city was once the capital of Egypt under Pharaoh Akhenaten, known for his attempt to introduce monotheism with the worship of the sun god Aten. You will explore the ancient ruins, including temples and royal palaces, as your Egyptologist provides context to this important period in Egyptian history.

Dinner and Overnight Stay

After a day of exploration, you will return to your hotel for a well-deserved dinner. Enjoy a relaxing evening before retiring for the night, as you prepare for another exciting day of historical discoveries.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will begin your second day of exploration with a visit to another fascinating archaeological site.

Tuna El-Gebel

Your first stop of the day is Tuna El-Gebel, a vast necropolis located on the west bank of the Nile. This site is known for its tombs and monuments, including the famous tomb of the high priest Petosiris. Tuna El-Gebel was an important religious center in ancient Egypt, and your guide will explain its significance in the context of Egyptian burial practices and its connection to the god Thoth.

Lunch Break

After your visit to Tuna El-Gebel, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can relax and refuel before continuing your journey.

Achmim

In the afternoon, you will visit Achmim, an ancient city with significant ruins, including temples dedicated to the goddess Bastet. This site offers an interesting blend of ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman influences, and your Egyptologist will provide detailed insights into its history and archaeological findings.

Transfer Back to Cairo

Following your visit to Achmim, you will begin your transfer back to Cairo. The drive will take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, covering a distance of 250 kilometers. During the journey, you can reflect on the ancient wonders you’ve explored over the past two days.

Upon arrival in Cairo, your tour will conclude, and you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, depending on your travel plans.
